This month we inaugurate a new section that will present you during the year with some of the most beautiful Italian architectural creations. Let’s start by showing you an all-Brescia project, like us: the Alps Villa by Camillo Botticini.
“We wanted an ecological house in terms of construction material and insulation, equipped with ventilated walls, a sustainable house poised to blend into the surrounding landscape.” Explains the architect Camillo Botticini that designed it.
“Alps villa is a building in which different principles coexist such as transparency and opacity, opening and closing, domesticity and at the same time detachment, a timeless and at the same time contemporary aspect and, finally, harmony and tension.”
The project
The house has an irregular “C” shaped plan, with a patio where the fourth side consists of a green floor which offers the planimetric structure that generates the spaces of the house, creating three bodies of variable height, one of which disappears integrating into the ground.
Green meadows and trees frame the external cladding in copper oxide and corrugated Accoya wood, which, with the triple glazing, are the only artifice in contrast that interacts with the nature.
The patio flooring is made of Iroko wood, while the large windows define a space that is enriched with a green maple that provides the guests with ample shade.
Inside, the floors are in sand-coloured resin, the walls are painted white and the ceilings contain recessed lighting, while the parapets are in glass and the window frames in painted iron with the aim of enhancing the space and its continuity, favouring integration with the location.

Alps Villa is situated in Lumezzane, in the province of Brescia.
The Architect
Camillo Botticini is professor of Architectural Design at the Polytechnic of Milan, where in 2003 he obtained his PhD in Urban Architecture, and at the Escuela de Arquitectura dell’Universidad de Navarra.
He has won international competitions and created different types of architecture both in Italy and in Europe by combining theoretical research with significant operational capacity.
Over the years, he has received important architectural awards: Gold Medal for Italian Architecture in 2012 – special price Architecture in Wood; First prize of IN/ARCH-Ance in 2006. He was also present at the Venice Architecture Biennial in 2000, 2010 and 2014.
His works have been published in the most important architecture magazines such as Casabella, Domus, A10, Metalocus, Details, Mark, Abitare and also books like the Phaidon Atlante of architecture of the XXI century.
