How a handle for doors and windows is created. The stages of grinding and polishing.

After being turned, the handle is subjected to grinding. An operation that consists of removing the rough surface of the molded parts and the most impure part of the brass by means of abrasive bands of varying degrees.

There are two different grinding procedures: with automatic machines or manually.

The automatic process, for more modern and linear handles, involves the use of robotic systems that guarantee uniform final products with high quality standards.

Manual grinding on the other hand is recommended for more sophisticated forms of design and for the entire vintage range: models with completely different profiles and that necessitate human intervention that is capable of giving that typical artisan taste.

For rounded handles, grinding is followed by vibration, useful for rounding and smoothing the shapes: handles and plates are left to turn in a special tank for 8 – 10 hours until the desire level is reached.

The articles are ready to be brushed and brightened up with two steps that are performed almost contemporarily: brushing and dressing.

Brushing involves the use of special soaps that polish the product leaving it opaque. It is carried out almost exclusively by machine using braided fabric disks that rotate at a high speed and on which abrasive paste is applied.

The final stage is dressing, by means of cotton wheels that give the handles the end lustre.

Many stages, one territory: that of Valle Sabbia. The Linea Calì handles are created and processed exclusively in our area of origin, for a Made in Italy that is today a symbol of luxury in the world.
