How a handle is created: the creative phase

The artistic phase.

The search for the design of an everyday object such as a handle must take many aspects into account, and of them all, the aesthetic and practical aspects are the most important. Yes, because a handle must be beautiful but also practical; everyone is capable of designing beautiful handles but for them to be comfortable and safe, the designer must be very skilled, and so it will make a difference and the handle will enter the house.

Everything starts from the artistic phase, the moment when the designer frees its imagination and, thanks to the know-how gained over the years, gives life to new trends.

The creative phase changes depending on the type of handle that the designer is going to design.

With contemporary handles, the designer searches for new forms and finds inspiration in the architecture around him, in nature and in the artistic tendencies of the moment, reinterpreting them and adapting them to objects with limited dimensions, such as handles. In this process, technology is the master, helping to develop the initial idea and perfecting it geometrically.

With the Vintage style, the process is completely different. In this case, the designer must have a deep knowledge of the most important artistic movements, in order to create something unique, something new but with an old flavour.

Everything starts with a sketch on paper that is refined until deemed suitable and a sculptor creates the wooden model that is required to evaluate the project in detail. In this phase, the last small corrections are made, perhaps to make the handle more pleasant or maybe to make it more comfortable. The wooden model is then transferred and engraved on steel molds.

Finally, we have the Crystal handles, that is, those embellished with original Swarovski® crystals. Here too the way of conceiving the handle changes radically in that all of the dynamics of those dealing with the world of luxury come into play.

The shape of the Swarovski® crystal is crucial because it determines the success of the project; the reflections that are emitted from the crystal are conditioned by its shape and by the way in which it is secured to the product. Thanks to an attentive and scrupulous study, each crystal redefines a new handle enlightening it with its own light and making it suitable for the most exclusive and refined environments.
