How to decorate in the Baroque style?

It’s not easy to give a vintage touch to a room, especially if the featured style is Baroque; all it takes to create a tacky effect is one wrong piece of furniture, lamp or object. Baroque, in fact, is not synonymous with kitsch but with class, wealth and opulence.

So how do we achieve a Baroque style? Luckily, designers are there to help who have reinterpreted this style with much skill, giving it a modern twist.

Ferruccio Laviani is one such designer. With his unmistakable Bourgie lamp in transparent polycarbonate, he has introduced this style to recent generations. The triangular base, clearly inspired by the Baroque style, carries a wide lampshade with internal pleating creating a play of light when turned on.

Alessandro Mendini also contributed to the dissemination of this Italian Neo Baroque style. His Proust armchair, designed in 1978 for Cappellini and Magis, takes shape from the mold of a Baroque style armchair made modern thanks to the rotational moulding technique. In the Proust armchair, we thus find the finely carved legs and curved armrests, distinctive features of the important Baroque chairs.

However, an attentive and professional interior designer, in addition to the most well-known pieces, cannot forget one of the most used items during the day but one that is often forgotten: the handle.
