Brass and time. Why noble materials don’t age, they improve.

There’s a gesture that Italian craftsmen have been repeating for generations, almost like a ritual: holding a freshly made piece in your hand and feeling its weight.

Not to measure it but to recognise it.

Brass has a definite quality, a density you feel instantly, and it tells you everything about what you’re holding in your hand even before you look at it.

It’s from that feeling that the story of every Linea Calì handle begins.

The brass we work with, processed and transformed within the industrial district of Brescia, one of the oldest and most qualified in Italy for metalworking, is a material with a density of about 8.5 grams per cubic centimetre.

To understand what it actually means in practical terms: a piece of the same size made of aluminium, which is used to make most imported handles, weighs about three times less. Three times less!

These aren’t just numbers: they’re the difference you feel every time you use a handle.

That solidity isn’t just felt: it’s real, measurable, certified. But the weight is only the first chapter.

Brass is a molded material, which means it can be shaped into forms of extraordinary complexity that other materials cannot achieve.

Our Vintage collections, for example, with their elaborate decorations and organic geometries, could not exist in aluminium. Not because no one has tried, but simply because it cannot be done.

The ductility of brass, combined with its structural strength, is what makes an object like the Decor, Liberty or Glamor handle possible. Shapes that are also history, a memory of Italian Craftsmanship.

Then there is the matter of the finishes.

The 24-carat gold plating that distinguishes some of our most prestigious collections is not a simple coating to create: it is a galvanisation process that adheres to the brass with a permanence and brightness that other materials can only imitate, without ever achieving the same brilliance.

Choosing a brass handle is therefore a conscious choice for anyone who knows that what is created today will continue to exist, intact in form and finish, when their children touch it.
